Race for Kids 4K and 10K Challenge

Registration:  Mail - Download the entry form and mail it to RUNNING 4KIDS, P.O. Box 469, Sykesville, MD 21784 with the fee.  DO NOT mail after May 25.

        On line - read all the information and agree to waiver before registering.  This is different.  NO EXTRA FEE!  Either attach the completed form to an email or list all of the information on the entry form in an email to run4kids@verizon.net.  To pay, hit the donate button for your registration fee.  It goes through Pay Pal and therefore is secure.  We do not use/share/sell email addresses.

Discounts are available only for early registration by May 26.  $5 for youth who have participated in previous years with the year as the code, i.e. 2018.  $5 discount for family members. Code is FAM.  Most do not take advantage of the discounts. Race week and race day registration is $30 plus an extra donation of your generosity.   Extra donations are certainly accepted on any registration.  Packet pick up and registration will be held on Thursday evening, May 30, at Tri Sport Junction on Main Street in Sykesville from 4:45 - 7:30 PM.  Race day registration at Park is from 7:15 - 8:00 AM.  Please register early to save stress on the volunteers.

 
 

4K

                                                      RUN 4 KIDS CHALLENGE

 

 

The challenge is a 4K run and/or walk or a 10K run.  Originally for middle school students but has grown to include everyone.  In 2018, 100% of all entry fees benefited the children.  This was made possible through the generosity of donors and other fundraisers.  The race will again take place at Freedom  Park in Sykesville, MD on the 1st Saturday following Memorial Day, June 1, 2019.  The race targets the fight against childhood cancer.  Join us!

 

2019

The 7th annual Run 4 Kids Challenge will be held at Freedom Park in Sykesville on Saturday, June 1 at 8:15AM.  This year's Challenges include a 10K and 4K run/walk.  Those runners with chairs or strollers will do the 10K for safety reasons.

1.  School challenge among elementary and middle schools.    Award is a unique trophy and monetary prize. Current leader is Freedom Elementary.

2.  Club Challenge based on participation.  Publicity for the club.  Current leader is ERR.

3.  After School Program Challenge based on participation. Will share award with school winner.

4.  Gym Challenge based on participation.  Publicity for the gym.  Maybe a certificate.

Participants may represent school, gym and/or club.  Students, staff, family, networked friends may represent the group(s) in the Challenges.

 

AGE GRADED CUP CHALLENGE:  16 runners representing 8 different age divisions competing in the 10K.  Winners based on age graded time. There is no extra fee.  First come, first served.  If you wish to participate, get your entry in early and ask to be included in the AG Challenge.  Trophy and a gift certificate to the winners.

 

AMENITIES:  Tee shirts to all entrants;limited sizes.  To get the size that you prefer, please register early.  Medals* to all elementary and middle school finishers;  refreshments to all

*adults with a special race such as first race, first race with child, recovery race, etc.- please see us for a medal after the race

 

PRIZES:  both male and female: 

Overall: trophy, certificates from Glory Days Grill and Tri Sport Junction;  second place: certificate from Glory Days Grill

Divisions: 1st - trophy, Glory Days Grill certificate; 2nd in youth divisions only - ribbon and certificate(s)

Divisions for 4K:  K-2, 3-5, middle school, high school, open, masters (40-49), grand masters (50-59), senior (60-69), grand senior (70+)

Divisions for 10K:  12 and under, 13-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, 70+

 

GRAND RANDOM PRIZE:???????

Elementary School Random Prize: Book and certificates totally $$$

Middle School Random Prize: Will be the same as ES

 

Random Prizes: at least 1/3 of participants have won a prize in each of the six previous years.  Currently 30+ valued at over $700.

 

RAFFLE: tickets $3 each or 4 for $10; PRIZES (6 total); each valued at over $75;  an original oil painting ; handcrafted jewelry box (could be used for medals or bibs); 2 restaurant packs (BWW, Glory Days, Rock Salt Grille, E.W. Beckks), (BWW, GDG, RSG, Baldwin Station), at least 1 pair of running shoes

     First 20 registrants receive a free ticket; 1 for each of the 17 age divisions and 3 others
